about

Hailing from Northern Germany, Morgen Wurde and Tis invite you on a journey to surrender to the awe-inspiring mysticism of the forces of nature. With dark-romantic devotion they traverse vast spaces of wonder, driven by the stoic pulse of the eternal working of the forces.

Their cinematic hybrids of ambient, neo-classical and moody deep techno evoke the ambivalence of majestic and threatening nature. Alienated acoustic instruments elevate the mental dimension of the dance experience to mystic heights. Symphonic grandeur, archaic drone and occult clang are fused with hypnotic beats in a magic manner.

To crown it all, angelic singer Maria Estrella introduces her mesmerizing vocals in the advanced stage of the journey. Being a long-time musical companion of Morgen Wurde, her calling is to create vocal sound forms beyond our conditioned experiences.

When producers Wolfgang Röttger and Christian Schmidt submitted a 4 track EP, we loved the tracks so much that we requested that they expand on the EP ideas to create a full album.

And how.

Wacht is predominantly centred around 4/4 minimal techno, but if you think that sets you up to be waiting on 64 bar sections with crawling evolutions, you're dead wrong. Wacht is an album full of shape shifters, piled high with found-sound elements, off-kilter piano, dubby bass and rarely explored jazz-inspired chord voicings.

The first half of the album provide the the undercurrent for the whole album, starting with title track 'Wacht', and then flowing into 'Zielt', "Leuchtet' and Brennt'. Tight, uncluttered beats, soft, understated piano, whispering, textured synth, and samples & sounds coming in and out of nowhere, filling the space with unexpected beauty.

Setting aside the beats, the stunning 'Gewahrt' provides a half-time sound bath, with echoing guitar refrains and dusty chords, drawing you further into the beguiling sounds of this remarkable duo.

The second half of the album introduces us to the stunning vocal talents of Las Vegas songwriter and vocalist Maria Estrella, whose gently, breathy delivery blends perfectly to tracks such as 'Findet', 'Geweiht', and the epic closer 'Lässt Ios', which delivers soaring ambient on an epic, cinematic scale.

Wacht works on multiple levels; turn up the volume for proper 5am Ibiza sunrise vibes, down low to provide ever-evolving background sounds while at your desk, or with headphones on, so you can dive into the detail and intricacy of an expertly crafted album.
