about

"Brach Auf" is a haunting reflection on natural forces. With its intense drones, dark swirling synths, liturgical vocals, and overall cinematic feel, this is a soundtrack for watching the fires burn and the embers fly!

The dark romance of the awe-inspiring forces of nature, both soothing and majestic as well as indifferent and threatening to man - even in the form of the human mind... such visions are also the moving forces behind this album.

Unlike much ambient music, which tends to be about tranquility and unobtrusiveness, this music also strives for intensity and ambiguity. The emotive qualities of these ethereal sound mass compositions range from the tranquil to the sublime to the startling.

Most blissful moments emerge with Maria Estrella's elysian vocals flowing through divine drones and spheres.
In other tracks, spirits are on a cathartic quest for redemption, and noisy eruptions of elemental forces contrast with serene passages.
The evocative epic is brought to a close by Oliver Schmidt, who shaped the final two tracks into their final form.

The quality as if the music were in constant dissolution gives heft to its dreaminess and poignancy to its beauty. It is also about the ability to disappear into sound, to lose oneself in the iridescence of timbres or to be made whole by a consonant harmony.

"...it doesn’t take much to imagine an apocalyptic scene unfolding right before the eyes... Brach Auf creases at its blackening edges, the smoky drones congealing in the air after a seismic event. The aftermath of the fire is both terrifying and spectacular."
